Headteacher's Welcome
We had the most fantastic year in 2024-25. There were many highlights from academic and sporting success, to student leadership driving the school forwards with ideas and initiatives, guided by the Student Council. In May 2024, Ofsted conducted a routine inspection and judged that the school continues to be outstanding. The opening sentence of our Inspection Report rightfully describes us as 'exceptional'. I am determined to continue to work alongside students, staff, parents, carers and governors to ensure we remain outstanding, and as I tell the students regularly, I see outstanding things every day in lessons and beyond.

JenNy's Courage
“Newlands gave me the confidence to explore different paths — from medical school to the RAF — until I found my place in the cockpit of a Chinook. Flying around the world, taking part in RAF100 over Buckingham Palace, and landing on warships have made the hard work more than worth it.”
Blaise's Commitment
“Whilst studying Economics, I took modules in sustainability and eco‑initiatives and these reignited a passion I’d first discovered at Newlands. That spark led me to PwC’s sustainability division, where I now work on global environmental projects — including developing an AI tool to help companies be transparent about their impact.”
Laura's Compassion
“After leaving Newlands, I spent a transformative gap year teaching music in a women’s prison and working at Camp America. I’m now graduating this June and have secured a Performing Arts teaching role in the Cayman Islands, with hopes of training as a Music Therapist in the future.”
Rebecca's Courage
“After leaving Newlands I decided to focus on my health and build a path that truly suited me, leading me to study Food Science and complete a BSc in Food Marketing Management. I’m now thriving in my second year of Morrisons’ Manufacturing Graduate Scheme, proving that with determination, resilience and self‑belief, you can rewrite your future and achieve more than you ever imagined.”
Harjyot's Commitment
“Encouraged to defer university for a year, I went on to study Politics and had three of the best years of my life before beginning my career in London. I’m now a qualified CIM Associate working in Marketing and PR, travelling widely and thriving in a tech role that grew from my first job in IT at BlackBerry.”
Leanne's Compassion
“Through networking I secured an internship with Vodafone, which led to my role at the Ministry of Justice, where no two days are ever the same. The computer skills I first built at Newlands — and the compassion that underpins the work I do with every case — have helped me thrive in a job I genuinely enjoy.
