Business & Economics
What We Study
Business & Economics helps students understand how organisations operate, how decisions are made and how economic forces shape society. Students explore themes such as enterprise, markets, finance, globalisation and strategic decision making, developing the analytical and evaluative skills needed to interpret real world events. The curriculum encourages curiosity, problem solving and confident communication.
Key Stage 3
Business & Economics is not taught as a discrete subject at KS3, but students develop transferable skills through other areas of the curriculum, including financial awareness, critical thinking and an understanding of how the world around them functions.
Key Stage 4
At GCSE, students explore how businesses start, grow and respond to challenges. They study marketing, operations, finance and human resources, learning how decisions are made and how external factors influence success. Students apply their knowledge to real and contemporary case studies, developing strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Key Stage 5
A Level Business and A Level Economics allow students to explore organisations, markets and economic systems in greater depth. They analyse data, evaluate strategies and consider how political, social and global factors shape decision making. Both courses develop confident, independent thinkers who can interpret complex information and communicate well reasoned arguments.
Beyond the Classroom
Students take part in enterprise challenges, competitions and real world investigations that help them understand how businesses and economies operate. These experiences build confidence, teamwork and commercial awareness.
